WREN Award

The Village Hall Working Group are very pleased to announce that the Parish Council has been awarded a grant of £50,000 (£44,500 net) from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) towards fitting out costs of the kitchen and toilets.

The WREN scheme is part of a national scheme in which a small percentage of the landfill tax collected under the Landfill Communities Fund can be donated to suitable projects.  It is run in conjunction with local landfill operators (in our case Dix Pit at Stanton Harcourt).  As a condition of part of the scheme, the Parish Council pays £5,500 to the landfill operator (hence the figure of £44,500 net award).
